How do you work with clients?
I believe in meeting clients where they are at. This means that I will not judge you for your thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, or decisions. Instead, I will listen empathetically, and together we will process your concerns. I often provide supportive tools that have been known to reduce stress and sometimes we practice in session. I utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy (cognitive restructuring), as well as Mind Body Stress Reduction techniques and coping skills.
What can I expect to gain out of therapy?
What clients take away from therapy varies, but more often than not, you will develop skills to cope with stress, anxiety, depression, anger, and grief. This typically leads to improved communication with others and strengthened relationships. You will hopefully develop more insight about yourself and what you want moving forward. Your self-confidence and self-esteem will more than likely increase, leading you to change old behavior patterns and develop new ones.
Do you meet with fertility/reproductive clients ONLY?
No. Although I specialize in reproductive mental wellness, I provide services to those who are experiencing challenging transitions (i.e. death of a loved one, divorce, job/career change, a move, end of a relationship, etc). Most of my clients fall in the fertility / reproductive area however.
What makes you qualified to do infertility counseling?
I am an active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) where I keep up to date on the latest in the reproductive medicine field. I have completed countless third party psychoeducation consultations as well as egg donor and gestational carrier evaluations. I have completed trainings, seminars, and I meet with colleagues in the field on a regular basis. I am very familiar with the medical terminology. Infertility and loss have touched me personally as well, and I therefore have a profound understanding of the challenges that accompany this journey.
Do you accept insurance and Medicare?
I do not accept insurance or Medicare, but I would be happy to provide you with a receipt or super bill to submit for potential reimbursement.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. I use a platform called Simple Practice which requires a credit card prior to our session.
Do you offer email therapy?
At this time I do not offer therapy via email exchange.
Do you offer counseling services to both men and women?
Yes!
Is your practice LGBTQ friendly?
Absolutely. I have completed the Professional Training Program through the Family Equality Council, and welcome LGBTQ people to my practice.
Do you prescribe medication?
I am not able to write prescriptions, but we can certainly discuss your thoughts about medication, and I can refer you if needed.
Do you evaluate surrogates and egg/sperm donors?
Yes!
Is that your dog in the photo above?
While I do love dogs, that one is not mine. I just found the photo too adorable to pass up!
